Who is Chris Butcher anyways?

I was asked…”Are you going to guarantee a winning season?” My response? “NO! I can only guarantee we’ll hustle, be respectful, will learn the fundamentals, and be good teammates.” Guess what usually happens as a result of focusing on those things? :)

Coaches! Squeeze every ounce of productivity you can out of every minute you have with your players! Stations, extra coaches, short duration drills, game-like situations…these all make your players and teams better!

2. ASSUME POSITIVE INTENT - Don’t mistake for malice that which can be explained away as stupidity
3. MEET CURRENT EXPECTATIONS - Relentless focus on achieving the stated objectives
4. DO THE RIGHT THING - Always strive to take the high road
5. HAVE SOME FUN - You can give up all forms of misbehavior but you won’t really live any longer… it will just seem longer

A good coach never coaches a new team the same as the last one. Each kid, each team presents different personalities, challenges, weaknesses and strengths. Realizing those differences and applying your coaching to make each member on the team better…THAT’S coaching!

If you put a plant in a jar, it will take the shape of the jar. But if you allow the plant to grow freely, with guidance, twenty jars might not be able to hold it! Think of that idea when building your youth baseball or softball team..or ANY team!
